![]() ![]() ![]() I like the free engine table but perhaps it should be a new article? Htaccess 08:53, 29 July 2007 (UTC) Reply I think perhaps a full List of free game engines (not limiting it to just FPS engines). Marašmusïne Talk 08:12, 29 July 2007 (UTC) Reply I agree the age should not make a difference but do agree that FreeDOOM should be removed from the list as it requires a separate game engine to play. I think I will add another table here for "free first-person shooter engines" and include things like Aleph One and FreeDOOM (providing they don't require commercial game files). Acetylcholine 22:17, 28 July 2007 (UTC) Reply I don't think the age of games is an issue. Marašmusïne Talk 18:09, 28 July 2007 (UTC) Reply About Doom ports, they are no longer graphically appealing as well, i mean outdated, so they can be safely removed from the list IMO. free (no shareware, or requiring another piece of software to run ).is notable, per WP:N (which shouldn't be a problem if #1 is from a good source). ![]() described by independent references as a first-person shooter. However, if you have those references you may as well make a Wikipedia article for it, even if it's just a stub. Htaccess 07:21, 28 July 2007 (UTC) Reply "must have a wikipedia page" isn't actually a requirement if you can provide citations for notability and verifiability. When a game is deleted we can then state that it was deleted as it does not meet one of the defined requirements. no full conversions ie must be a full stand alone game, downloadable as a single binary. If this were a requirement then FreeDoom Would need to be removed as it requires combining the freeDoom wads with one of a number of doom engines. I also suggest that we add the requirement that the game is fully stand alone, ie that you only need to download one binary and not multiple components in order to play the game. I suggest that the requirement that the game has a wikipedia page is bogus and should be dropped, if you disagree please provide some coherent reasoning for this requirement. must be an active project, not historical/dead.must be freely (as in no cost, vs in the free software sense) downloadable.no full conversions ie must be a full stand alone game. From what I can make out from reading through this talk page the criteria are: The criteria for inclusion in this list needs to be clearly defined. New releases are being developed as you're downloading version 2.4.2 on your Mac.Ĭheck out these fresh gameplay screens below and click here to check Nexuiz in action.Criteria for inclusion in this list It was a first for a project of its kind and, since then, it has been downloaded over 1.5 million times, according to the developers who are constantly updating the game. The first version of the game was released May 31, 2005. ![]() Nexuiz requirements are pretty small, but it has been confirmed that high-end video cards would be able to take advantage of some features such as bumpmapping and realtime lighting. Other highlights for Nexuiz 2.4.2 include fixed problems with lagging gameplay/crashes/wrong display of effects, new server tools for rcon and an irc gateway, updated server documentation, fixed the rotating textures/hud bug on Mac OSX with r_glsl 1 and more. The additional map (ons-reborn) has been specifically crafted for this game mode. It features two gameplay modes: Instant Action and, of course, online Multiplayer, with their respective gametypes, DeathMatch, Team DeathMatch, Arena, Rune, Domination, Key Hunt, Capture the Flag and the latest added Onslaught. The purpose of the game, according to Alientrap (the guys responsible for most of the work on the game) is "to bring deathmatch back to the basics, with perfect weapon balancing and fast paced action," trying to draw the line between itself and the "realistic" trends in the video games industry today. As I'm sure Nexuiz players don't need an update on what the game is all about, this link will take them straight to the new version of the game.įor those who are only now picking up on this fast paced first-person-shooter for Mac, Nexuiz is a 3D deathmatch game played entirely over the internet. What is probably the best looking and playing free game of its kind, Nexuiz for Mac OS X, has recently been updated to version 2.4.2, adding the much awaited Onslaught game mode, new sound effects and announcer voice, and a fresh new map to frag out on. ![]()
